If you bring 15 foreign top executives and innovation specialist to Silicon Valley, you have to live up to their expectations. So the Executive Startup Bootcamp delivered a state of the art event app with the latest technology.
The Executive Startup Bootcamp is a trade mission for innovation and marketing executives from leading companies in The Netherlands such as KLM, KPN, ABN Amro and ING. The Executive Startup Bootcamp (ESB), which is part of the government supported foundation DutchBasecamp, brought 15 vice presidents, directors and other executives to Silicon Valley to meet US startups that offer products and services targeted at solving their business challenges.
To support the trade mission, that entailed traveling to many different locations for in-depth meetings with US companies such as Facebook, Cisco, LinkedIn and AirBNB, an event app was created with AppMachine. “Schedules, attendees, points of interest, the app included all,” says app creator and DutchBasecamp founder Ruben Nieuwenhuis. “The app was the leading guide during the trip. A last-minute change in the program? Where is that cool bar in San Francisco? The event app took our attendees by the hand, literally. Because San Francisco is one of the few cities where people actually walk to their destinations, you could easily spot our attendees on the streets. They were looking on their smartphones frequently to find their direction.”
The event app was created in just two days. “It was fun to do,” says Ruben. “Although building your own app using AppMachine seems easy, the technology behind it is state of the art. When you organize lots of events, as we do, you always have tons of Excel sheets with several data: speaker info, attendees, workshops and meeting schedules. With AppMachine, you just import that data into your app. All changes are updated automatically; that saves a lot of work.”
To make sure the app would get a professional design and pleasant user interface, Ruben asked AppMachine´s designers to help design the app. “They know all about good UI’s and what looks great on a mobile, ” explains Ruben. “The support was also quick and professional, they even responded in weekends. I would highly recommend AppMachine for any event app.”
