Google Starts Promoting Your App

Mobile News Jerry Lieveld 28 Oct 2015

Great news from Google! Users can now directly install your app from Google Search if they search with a mobile device. This means Google could be promoting your app to billions of users.

Google has significantly adjusted its app indexing to the advantage of app builders. Our friends in Mountain View implemented app indexing in 2013 but only recently started to show the app content in its result pages. More people can now find the great app you have created.

Google says: “Great content in apps”

Users that search with a mobile device will see apps in the search engine result page (SERP) and can directly install that app on their smartphone. If they already had the app installed, you can open the app.

Google thinks great content can be found in apps and therefore will redirect its mobile users more often to mobile apps. Android has already indexed 30 billion links within apps!

How does app indexing work?

Imagine a person uses a smartphone to search for your company or product. Google will show your app in the search results.

The user sees your app in the list and immediately installs your app. This means Google could be promoting your app content to billions of users! Your app now becomes a serious online marketing tool.

This only works for Android apps and only if you let Google index your app. Be sure to have your apps indexed since it´s is a great way to attract new users.

How to implement app indexing

We wrote an article about Google Indexing for your AppMachine app! In the AppMachine apps for the Google Play Store everything is set, you only need to add the connection to the app on your website.

You can find the support article about how to add the app indexing to your website here.
